How we work · Auckland
Start with the place. Find the right next step.
Design, build, plant and care are connected decisions. We help work through the right combination for your property, whether you are planning a larger change or starting with one part of the landscape.
Where do we begin?
With the property, your priorities and the change you want to make. You do not need a finished design or every decision made.
Do I need every stage?
No. Design, construction, planting and care can connect, but the right starting point and scope depend on the site and the work needed.

The stages in practice
A clear direction, at each decision.
The stages describe how a landscape can come together. Your project may start at design, construction, planting or care; the scope is shaped around what the property needs.
Understand the place
Begin with the property and what needs to change.
We start with how the outdoor space is used, what is working and what is not. Access, levels, soil, sun, existing planting and the relationship with the building help shape the next decision.
For a home, that may mean better outdoor living or a garden renewal. For a commercial or shared property, it may mean clearer access, planting improvements or a more manageable landscape.
Photos, any plans you already have and a short description of your priorities give us a useful place to start.
Design the response
Decide what needs to work together.
Chris / Neda Landscaper leads landscape and planting design. The useful level of planning depends on the proposed change: a focused planting response may be enough, while a larger transformation may need layout, levels, materials and staging considered together.
If consent-related or other professional input is needed, Stable Group may be brought in for that part. Structural and specialist responsibilities are confirmed for the proposed work.
We’ll work through the design direction, what needs further consideration and the level of planning your project needs.
Build the foundations
Turn the agreed direction into a defined scope of work.
Ground work, movement, surfaces and landscape elements need to support how the space will be used. Construction scope and responsibility are agreed for the site before that stage proceeds.
Some projects can be staged. Others need connected decisions made together so that access, surfaces and planting can follow a coherent direction.
Before construction starts, we’ll agree what is included, where specialist input is needed and how the work can be sequenced.
Plant the landscape
Choose and establish planting for the conditions.
Planting considers the soil, light, exposure, available space and how the garden should develop. Preparation and installation follow the agreed planting direction, whether the need is a new garden or renewal of an existing one.
In a shared entrance or commercial landscape, planting also needs to work with access, use and the care the property can support.
We’ll discuss the planting, how the site needs to be prepared and what support the new garden will need as it settles in.
Establish & care
Look beyond the day of installation.
New planting needs support as it settles in. Existing gardens and lawns may need seasonal care, renovation or a more focused improvement plan. The appropriate care scope depends on the landscape and its condition.
Garden care, lawn health and commercial or body corporate landscape care can be considered alongside the earlier stages or as a separate starting point.
We’ll discuss the care your landscape needs and whether an ongoing care arrangement suits your property.
Prepare for the first conversation
Bring what you know. We can work from there.
A short description of the place and your priorities is more useful than trying to choose every material or plant before the site is understood.
- Photos of the outdoor space and any plans you already have
- What you would like to change, keep or improve
- How the property is used, including shared access or commercial needs
- Your priorities, timing and budget considerations
Keep the scope clear
The right people, for the work required.
Landscape and planting design are led by Chris / Neda Landscaper. Where the proposal needs consent-related, structural or other specialist input, the responsibilities are clarified for that part of the project.
Site-specific decisions
The proposed work, property conditions and any information already available guide what needs to happen next.
Professional input where needed
Stable Group is a separate business under the same ownership and may provide consent-related professional or planning input where required.
